Creating a bootable USB drive for Windows 10 involves several steps. Here’s a general guide on how to do it:
Requirements
A USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of storage capacity.
A Windows 10 ISO file. You can download this from the official Microsoft website.
Steps
Download Windows 10 ISO
Go to the official Microsoft website or use any trusted source to download the Windows 10 ISO file.
Insert USB Drive
Insert your USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.
Format USB Drive
Open File Explorer and right-click on your USB drive.
Select “Format”.
Choose the file system as “FAT32” or “NTFS”.
Make sure to leave the “Quick Format” option unchecked.
Click “Start” and confirm any warning prompts. This will erase all data on the USB drive.
Download and Install Rufus
Rufus is a free and open-source tool for creating bootable USB drives. Download it from the Rufus website and install it on your computer.
Open Rufus
Launch Rufus. You might need administrative privileges to run the program.
Select USB Drive
In Rufus, under “Device”, select your USB flash drive from the drop-down menu.
Select Windows 10 ISO
Under “Boot selection”, click on the “SELECT” button and navigate to the location where you downloaded the Windows 10 ISO file.
Select the ISO file and click “Open”.
Configure Rufus Settings
Ensure that the “Partition scheme” is set to “MBR” (for BIOS or UEFI-CSM).
For newer systems with UEFI firmware, you may choose “GPT”.
For “File system”, select “NTFS” or “FAT32”.
Leave the “Cluster size” at the default setting.
For the “Volume label”, you can enter any name you prefer.
Start Creating a Bootable USB
Once you’ve configured all the settings, click on “Start”.
Rufus will prompt you that all data on the USB drive will be destroyed. Click “OK” to proceed.
Rufus will start creating the bootable USB drive. This process may take some time, depending on the speed of your USB drive and your computer.
Complete the Process
Once Rufus finishes creating the bootable USB drive, you’ll see a “READY” message.
You can now close Rufus and safely eject the USB drive from your computer.
Now, you have a bootable USB drive with Windows 10. You can use this USB drive to install or repair Windows 10 on any compatible computer. Make sure to adjust the BIOS settings of the target computer to boot from the USB drive.
